A True Hero

A while back I wrote a post about a WWII veteran who I had met and befriended at my job working for Capitol Police in Virginia. I found out today that this war hero and my friend had died on Monday of this week. I attended his visitation this afternoon and I am posting his obituary in his honor.

Robert H. Deaderick

Robert Hardin Deaderick, respected and revered by countless friends and professional colleagues, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at 90 years of age.

Born July 31, 1917, in Sanford, N.C., he grew up on Fauquier Street in Fredericksburg and attended Fredericksburg High School before graduating from Virginia Military Institute in 1940, taking a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

In January, 1942, shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he married his lovely wife, Jane Argenbright, of Harrisonburg, and entered the U.S. Army as an artillery officer.

Before completing service to his country in 1945, he served as a forward observer in Gen. George Patton's 7th Armored spearheading its combat advance across Europe. There, he was instrumental in liberating numerous occupied venues. He received the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart, and was recommended for the Silver Star for gallantry in action.

Mr. Deaderick and his family settled in Richmond, where he became a consulting structural engineer and president of Deaderick & Gorley Engineers. He was responsible for many projects in Fredericksburg, including conversion of the old Shannon Farm to the Sheraton Hotel; addition to Fredericksburg Baptist Church in the 1960s; renovation of Gari Melcher's Home and Studio at Belmont in the 1970s; structural components of the Executive Office Building on Caroline Street, Fredericksburg's tallest building; and underpinning of the old National Bank building and tunnel. Later, he operated a home-inspection business.

He is survived by his wife, four children and seven grandchildren.

Courtship

I normally do not put personal information out on my blog. But in this case I am going to make an exception for your benefit. I am in the midst of a courtship with a young lady named Allison. Here is our picture taken at church yesterday.

You will hear anything worth while that I learn through this later. Any negative comments about this courtship can be directed to the White House email address. If you have positive comments please leave them in the comment section.

My last post.

My last post was an old article from the 2004 presidential elections. The man running at that time was Michael Peroutka. This years candidate is Chuck Baldwin. Now to answer the question of one of my readers. Being a part of the Constitution Party does not make you a good candidate. Nor does being a member of the democratic party make you a bad candidate. What makes you good or bad is your beliefs about God, the constitution, and the duties of the President and how they are to be carried out. The Constitution Party has consistently put forth strong candidates who know what their proper role is and how to execute it. The reason I posted an article that was four years old was because the principles mentioned in that article do not change. And the same things said about Peroutka are true about their current candidate. Vote for the man not the party. This year the best man is with the Constitution Party.

The Definition of Insanity

by Mary Starrett
Commentator and Talk Radio Host

...is repeating the same behavior and expecting different results. We must be certifiable because that's what we did in 2000 and it appears that's what we'll be doing again in 2004.

Republicans have controlled both the executive and legislative branches of government for most of Bush's last four years. That's the first time the Grand Old Party's been in charge to that degree for almost 50 years. You'd think that would be a slam-dunk for our side. No such luck. In the last four years we've watched as First Amendment, Second Amendment and Fourth Amendment guarantees have slowly been eroded.

We wanted to make sure the carnage of abortion stopped - so we voted for a Republican. The killing continues.

We longed for a president who'd stand up for our God-given Second Amendment rights. Instead we got a president who has systematically made keeping and bearing arms more difficult.

We voted for a Republican because we wanted a reigning-in of federal spending. We now have the most bloated federal budget in the history of the Republic. No longer the party of fiscal discipline, the R's have become de facto pig farmers with all the pork projects they've funded. That used to be something we pinned on the D's.

We voted for a Republican because we wanted better schools for our children. Instead we got the most intrusive federal program to date in a scheme called "No Child Left (Alone) Behind".

Yes, the GOP had a wonderful opportunity to get us back on track. They blew it.

President Bush's patently un-Constitutional Medicare prescription entitlement debacle is one program even the Democrats would have had a hard time getting away with. To make matters worse, YOU, my friend are paying, with your hard-earned tax dollars, over $12.5 million for 30 second TV commercials "explaining" the "benefit" to older Americans. This is nothing but a shameless election year ploy to get you to think the president, in all his altruism has you covered on the medicine front. By the by, just WHERE in the Constitution does it say the federal government has the authority to take your money and then redistribute it to pay for drugs that, more often than not, make people sicker than they were before they started taking them?

During the last administration when the government was divided we saw less damage done to the country in terms of liberties lost. Hard to believe we can say that of what went on during the Clinton administration.

Today on CNN president Bush spoke of "bringing democracy and freedom" to the people of Iraq. I found that odd. When Bush had the opportunity to promote "democracy and freedom" for the free-Chinese in Taiwan he sided with the brutal regime in Beijing and told the Taiwanese to stand down in their efforts at free elections. The regime he defended at the expense of the tiny island was the same one that threatened to lob missiles at Los Angeles a few years back and the same one that first held a US military jet hostage, then dismantled it looking for spy secrets.

Nice going, GW.

It may be stating the obvious, but we had more checks on this out of control animal our government has become when the R's were the opposition party. By the way, for those who think you have no choice come November, remember the definition of insanity once again. If you repeat the same behavior (voting for Bush) you'll continue to get what you've gotten: Government from the Gulag whereby Patriot Acts and Homeland Security agencies strip us of liberty in a most disquieting way.

A recent poll on WorldNetDaily.com asked readers if they'd vote for Judge Roy Moore should he run as a third party candidate against Bush. What is there to talk about? A man who would give up prominence and defy a federal court for Christian principle (which is what this Republic was founded on) would be a de-luxe president in my mind.

My guess is the judge won't run- not to send a message to Bush- or for any other reason. That's why I'm voting for the Constitution Party candidate instead of Bush.

The moral imperative says I can not cast a vote for a de facto pro-abortion, anti-gun globalist when a man of sound principle like Michael Peroutka is running.(www.peroutka2004.com) I agree with him on every issue. I had a chance to interview Mr. Peroutka on a radio show I did yesterday and I was mightily encouraged. Not because I think he'll win. He won't. Not as long as Americans continue to believe they're " wasting" their votes by voting for someone who represents them.

You "wasted' your vote the last time, when you voted for Bush. Don't waste it again. Remember, if we continue to repeat the same behavior expecting different results, then we are truly insane.

And the lesser of two evils is still…evil.

Is the lesser of evils really good?

I have been talking with a lot of people about the upcoming presidential election. The overwhelming majority of people do not really like any of the candidates. But because the race is so "close" and "vitally important" we have to settle for the lesser of two evils. (Or in this case the lesser of three evils since no one can seem to pick between Hillary and Barack.)

What I cannot understand is why people feel compelled to choose one of three people they really don't like when there are other people running independent or with third parties that are much more qualified and intelligent. Will people continue to choose the lesser of two evils when the two majors parties have degraded to the point that one offers a declared socialist and the other a proud communist? We are nearer to that point now then I think we are willing to notice.

People need to recognize that the lesser of the evils is still evil in some manner. If you select the lesser of the evils, that will take us down the path of destruction as fast if not faster than deliberately supporting evil instead of the truth. Look at our nation now. We didn't get where we are in lack of morals in our lives, music, movies, etc, by openly supporting evil. Satan doesn't look at us and say, "This is sin!" He always gets us to compromise. This is what we are doing in our political arena. The only thing that will help America is to stop being a part of the status quo and vote for what is right even if it is not popular or likely to succeed. At least then when America is in a deplorable condition you will be able to say that it isn't your fault. Because I assure you that voting for the lesser of two evils will only slow down our inevitable destruction.
